Edible Lace You Can Use The Day You Make It!

Edible Lace You Can Use The Day You Make It!

If you’ve been hanging out with me here on Behind the Bites, you already know that I love discovering new cookie decorating techniques that make life easier and prettier. A couple of weeks ago, I was doing what every cookie decorator does best—falling down an Instagram rabbit hole—and I stumbled across something that made my jaw drop.

I was watching IamCookieLand’s video where she shared her brand-new sugar lace recipe, and let me tell you…I didn’t even hesitate. I jumped on it immediately.

Why? Because edible lace is absolutely stunning on cookies, but if you’ve ever made it before, you know the struggle is real. Normally, it’s a long process—waiting overnight just to spread the mixture into the mold, then another 24 hours before it’s ready to use or run the risk of burning/drying it out in the oven. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

But this recipe? Game-changer.

Not only did I already have every single ingredient in my pantry (win!), but the real magic is this: I was able to make it, spread it, and actually use it on cookies all in the same day. No endless waiting. No praying the lace didn’t crack or crumble before I could even get it onto a cookie. Just gorgeous, flexible lace, ready to go within hours.

I put together a quick video of me making the lace so you can see just how easy it is— watch it below! And above, you can see all of the lace I made with just one batch of this recipe.

If you’ve ever been intimidated by edible lace or simply don’t have two days to dedicate to making it, you need to try this recipe. Trust me, once you do, you’ll be finding excuses to put lace on every cookie you make.

✨ Big thanks to Zornitsa over at iamcookieland.com for sharing this amazing recipe with the cookie community. She’s a total genius, and my cookie heart is forever grateful.
